A Cricket bat that could never face up to a googly or be used in a match went up for auction and raised a fantastic £1,000 in aid of top county cricketer Gary Keedy’s benefit year.
When Howard Evans from Kingfisher Graphics in Bredbury approached Wayne Deasey at Cheadle Glass in Stockport to produce a trophy to be presented to Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff and then auctioned, Wayne decided to get really creative with glass!
The two companies combined their talents and the result was a stunning larger than life glass cricket bat which was signed by Freddie Flintoff and featured his photograph digitally printed onto the glass by Kingfisher Graphics. The bat was created by Cheadle Glass using low iron glass which was optically clear with pencil polished edges.
Wayne explained “We are always keen to see just what we can achieve with glass, it is a really versatile material and we enjoy creating something which is unique. One of the latest innovations is to print images directly onto glass as we did on the bat, but we are now able to print huge images onto glass and these are proving really popular as wall art.
Gary Keedy commented” I thought the glass cricket bat was amazing, I just didn’t think something like that would be possible in glass I would have loved to keep it, the buyer has got a very unique piece something to admire for years to come”.
